Our Mission

To strengthen our community by empowering its most vulnerable members, at-risk mothers and their children, and providing them the tools they need to succeed.

We provide a place where mothers are seen, supported, and set on a path toward hope, healing, and independence.

We desire to empower at-risk mothers and their children in Athens by providing housing and programs that help them move toward stability.

Our Approach

Hope 139 was created from a heart for service and a calling to walk alongside at-risk mothers and their children. Born from years of experience in nursing, adoption and nonprofit work, our mission is simple but powerful: to provide safe, stable housing and holistic support to women and children in crisis.

We provide housing, education and job training, and specialized support.

At the core of everything we do our are values: faith, responsibility, accountability, community, and hope. We believe that with the right support, every woman and child can move forward with confidence and dignity.

Through providing housing, training, and provisions in a Christ-centered environment, our goal is to set mothers on a path for a brighter future together as a family unit. We hope to lessen the strain on the foster care program through giving birth mothers the help and support needed to keep their children. We want to provide a loving home and support system for pregnant and parenting women of any situation or walk of life making decisions to give life outside the womb to their babies.

Our training programs, in-house and partnerships will prepare them for various aspects of life, giving them the parenting support they need to raise a child. We welcome mothers of any race or religion into our living spaces, showing them the love and grace of Christ as we work together to prepare them for a successful future with their child.

Master Plan

We have completed our first cottages. Our master plan shows our vision for the community.

Statement of Faith

Our name is inspired by Psalm 139 in the Bible, and, in particular, verses 13-14.

"For you created my inmost being;
   you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
   your works are wonderful,
   I know that full well."

These verses speak to not only to the child or children that a mother has, but also to her life.

We agree with the Southern Baptist Convention Statement of Faith, which can be found in detail here.
